I’ve got a bit of a love / hate relationship with Reddit. On one hand, its one of the best places to find content ideas and really get a feel for whatever market or industry you’re building products for. But, on the other hand, they absorbed nearly all the traffic I had for many keywords my sites would rank Top 3 in SERP for.
I know SEO is a zero sum game, but it feels extra gross that such a large company outranks independent sites with exponentially more topical relevance. But…I digress. Hate it or Love, Reddit is the premier place to get free user feedback on products, get new content ideas, and find leads for SaaS platforms.
And since we don’t do anything manual around here except for eat; here’s how I use Google Workspace Studio and Gemini to comb Reddit daily for leads for my SaaS, Super Easy CRM.
Requirements
- Reddit account: Not 100% needed but it's vital if you want to engage with your target posts.
- Google Workspace Studio: Available in most business accounts.
- A CRM, Google Sheets, or some place to store your interactions.
Google Workspace Flow: Pull Reddit Leads Daily
This is set to trigger every morning. Once it runs, Gemini combs through Reddit for me to find relevant posts.
Here’s a summary of the prompt used to perform this action.
- Scan Reddit for fresh Super Easy CRM leads, prioritizing posts from the last 24 hours and never using anything older than 7 days.
- Find small businesses struggling with spreadsheets, Gmail, manual follow-ups, duplicate entry, and scattered customer data.
- Identify companies that are outgrowing lightweight processes, even if they never mention needing a CRM.
- Search business and industry-specific subreddits, not just CRM communities.
- Score each lead based on recency, business size, pain level, buying intent, and fit.
- Recommend a helpful response and next step without immediately pitching.
- Return only the strongest qualified opportunities and prioritize freshness over quantity.
What Happens to The Data After
I’m a big n8n user myself and have developed well over 100 flows to automate various processes in my businesses. Instead of depositing this information in a spreadsheet, I have n8n listen for this email, extract the contents, then create a task with Super Easy CRM, complete with a due date and reminders.
If you’re not using a CRM, Google Sheets works as well. It's just much harder to follow-up, though I learned my lesson about fighting certain spreadsheet users, especially sales guys.
Why Not Use the Reddit API
Well..because the free tier is more restrictive than my kid’s iPad screentime during the school week. Approval is not instantaneous and can take weeks AND you can potentially pay tens of thousands per month. In fact, Apollo, one of Reddit’s biggest clients, estimated that the API pricing would cost them around $20 million per year.
Why Google’s AI Agent Avoids These Constraints
Gemini isn’t spamming a bunch of AI calls to find leads for me. Instead it's doing what I was trying to pay my teenage daughter to do as her summer job (to no avail, btw). It's hitting up Reddit and using the instructions I provided to comb through threads and find worthwhile conversations for me.
By searching for leads this way, the API is completely bypassed, thus eliminating the small fortune you’d end up paying. Plus you
For Most Small Businesses and Solo Founders, Workspace Studio Just Works
In many cases, using the Reddit API would be complete overkill. I don’t need to ingest millions of posts, build a custom Reddit integration, or maintain another application just to find a handful of good opportunities each morning.
I need Gemini to:
- Search Reddit for very specific problems.
- Understand the context behind those problems.
- Filter out the junk.
- Give me the handful of posts actually worth my time.
- Hand those leads off to the rest of my workflow.
Google Workspace Studio handles the research, Gemini handles the reasoning, and n8n takes care of everything that happens afterward.
That’s the part I think gets overlooked with AI agents.
The goal isn’t to automate everything just because you can. It’s to remove the boring parts between finding an opportunity and actually doing something with it. Also, I, like many of you reading this can get lost in a Reddit rabbit hole. I might start out being mature and looking for leads but will eventually end up looking up Dragon Ball theories or reviews for the latest Pixel phones. This is also why I use the same AI agent process to keep me off social media while staying informed
.So, instead of spending 30 minutes scrolling through Reddit every morning, with this workflow, I can open Super Easy CRM and already have a prioritized list of conversations worth jumping into.
